So, this week’s topic: Getting over that hump, are you stuck can’t move forward getting over that hump. You must have a goal that is your life dream. Determine your passion and move forward toward it every day.

In your lifetime, you will come to a point where you just can’t get passed something, either its financial, tragedy, some form of setback whatever is holding you back you need to move forward. It’s easy to say but you need to find a way to continue on the journey toward your life dream. Most times it’s a block mentally that you just can’t get over, or there is a task at hand that you not sure how to complete, overwhelm by the task, don’t have the financial means to complete. At this stage, you need to look for help, answers on how to move forward, but never quit. If your life plan is written down and broken into action steps you have the steps to move forward, you may just need to break that larger task into smaller parts to be able to complete. Sometimes when the task is huge we shut down thinking we can’t complete it. Break it into smaller tasks and complete some of the easy ones first so you can get back on track.

Key is never losing that objective of complete or reaching your end game, your passion, your life dream. Follow it till the end you will overcome and one day wake up and find that you there! Keep on Moving Forward Don’t Quit.

If you’re stuck can’t get over the hump go to our website inspiringthem.com and submit your task your stuck on and we will help you move forward.

Mental Toughness: Perseverance – Don’t Quit – Video #9

Mental Toughness: Perseverance – Don’t Quit – Video #9

In this video, we are going to discuss the 5th and final P of the 5-P’s to success. The 5- P’s to success are the principles you need to develop to obtain the mental toughness needed to succeed.

The 5-P’s are:
1. Passion-your ultimate goal
2. Perception: Who we think we are
3. Perspective: Who we really want to be
4. Progressing: A Moving Forward mindset
5. Perseverance- Don’t quit – Never give-up

The 5th P is Perseverance: Don’t Quit You have to have a burning desire a passion, a written plan to obtaining that passion if you want to develop the Mental Toughness that Never quit attitude that is needed to overcome setbacks. Mental Toughness is the ability to MOVE FORWARD under pressure. Perseverance is defined as the steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.

So how do you develop perseverance, you must learn how to overcome obstacles and adversity. You must develop the ability to go over, under, around or through those things that get in the way of achieving your potential or goal. The only way you will do this is if you have a master plan a target that your shooting for that you know you will reach someday, no matter how far away that someday is. Never quit attitude is a mindset that I will continue in a forward motion towards my dreams and let nothing stop me along the way. Even if you have a setback, a delay of plans an interruption of your journey, never lose sight of the final goal and keeping moving towards it even if it takes your entire life to get there.

You see most people when faced by a challenge quit or shut down. Three things happen to people in the midst of crisis they either rise up and fight, or freeze in the circumstance of their setback or they quit, give up and tell themselves it wasn’t meant to be. All their doing in this situation when quitting is giving themselves a reason, justifying it in their own minds so they can move past it. The sad part is they never really find out how close there where or that with a little push they may have move forward enough to complete the goal. That goal then becomes a WHAT IF in their life, from time to time in life they will second guess themselves and say what if I just kept going? To me that is the biggest sadness of one’s life to live in a what if world. I say Why not you, Why not now? Preserve DON’T QUIT!

Well in the last 5 videos we have shown you the 5 P’s to success developing the mental toughness to Move Forward. To develop the 5 P’s and mental toughness you need to add these 8 steps or skills to your toolbox:
1. Determine your passion
2. Write down your goals
3. Keep a Positive Attitude
4. Welcome and accept change
5. Move forward daily
6. Get to work, do something every day to get better
7. Finish, complete those action steps
8. Find an exercise and nutritional diet that meets your needs.

Mental Toughness: Progressing – Move Forward – Video #8

Mental Toughness: Progressing – Move Forward – Video #8

In this video, we are going to discuss the 4th P of the 5-P’s to success. The 5- P’s to success are the principles you need to develop to obtain the mental toughness needed to succeed.

The 5-P’s are:
1. Passion-your ultimate goal
2. Perception: Who we think we are
3. Perspective: Who we really want to be
4. Progressing: A Moving Forward mindset
5. Perseverance- Don’t quit – Never give-up

The 4th P is Progressing: Actually my favorite of the 5-P’s because I truly believe it is the secret to success, the secret to obtaining anything you want in life. Progressing is a move forward mindset. A growth mindset that always has a need to improve. You have to have this progressing move forward mindset which is the Mental Toughness to continue forward towards your dreams. Remember Mental Toughness is the ability to MOVE FORWARD under pressure.

Progressing is defined as the advancement or development toward a better, more complete outcome. Simply put Move Forward through whatever is in your way to achieving your dreams, your passion in life, your next goal. Most people let a small failure derail their success, once the process gets a little tough, a high percentage of people can’t get passed the setback.

I know it’s easy to say just move forward, but actually doing it takes hard work and determination. I can tell you this I have overcome some huge failures and major life setbacks over the years. I have built some successful companies, but on the other hand I have suffered through losing everything after companies have failed. I have started my life over several times and can state with experience, the only way to get to that endgame your passion in life is to keep your eye on the target and continue progressing- moving forward toward it. Remember “it’s not how you start but how you finish”.

Some of you listening today may have suffered some major tragedies’ in your life the ones you just can see a way of overcoming. I myself have suffered some of these very things like the loss of a child and have found the only way to get pass the sadness, the questioning of Why? Is to focus on the bigger picture, your life mission or passion. You cannot let things that happen in the past control your future.

Personal tragedies are the worst kind of adversity, whatever the tragedy may be: a loss of child, close family member, best friend, maybe a job, a failed business. Many people can never recover from this, they fall into an attitude of bitterness and hopelessness that never seems to go away. There are so many things that seem to hold us back in life: rejection, resentment, loss of love ones, hurt feeling, damaged pride, you must let these go and progress, move forward toward that bigger mission in life. You must change the story or message within your mind. It is a “WHAT’S NEXT” thinking that gets you over the ruts, the setbacks and tragedies in life.

So how do we make this incredible change in mindset? We must move passed the learned helplessness or closed mindset and develop a growth mindset a progressing move forward attitude at all times. What I have found through my years is that this closed mindset is a result from experiencing some type of uncontrollable event that causes people to expect future failure. They have learned that success means your good and they have concluded that any setback or difficulty is a failure and means they are not good. It is at this time of your life that you cannot let these events control you and your mind. Remember this depression or lack of motivation is normal and part of the grieving process the trick is don’t live there move forward develop a growth mindset.

The mental toughness to succeed or overcome these events is the art of Progressing-Moving Forward daily no matter what happens keep your sights on the long-term goal and do something daily towards achieving that goal. It’s in these daily action steps that you will develop the mental toughness to overcome your depression and lack of motivation.

I will leave you with this statement: “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great!” If your struggling with something and can’t seem to get passed it, drop use a message on our website and we with try to help you along.

Mental Toughness: Perspective– Who we want to be – Video #7

Mental Toughness: Perspective– Who we want to be – Video #7

In this video, we are going to discuss the 3rd P of the 5-P’s to success. The 5- P’s to success are the principles you need to develop to obtain the mental toughness needed to succeed.

The 5-P’s are:
1. Passion-your ultimate goal
2. Perception: Who we think we are
3. Perspective: Who we really want to be
4. Progressing: A Moving Forward mindset
5. Perseverance- Don’t quit – Never give-up

The 3rd P is Perspective: What we want to be: Perspective is a particular attitude toward how we view something. So, you have a dream of being a successful business person someday, is that a dream or a goal have you written it down and broken it into action steps to complete? The key is whatever we want to be or how we would like to be viewed all starts with us. If you want to be a successful business person, then you must already see yourself as one. You need to walk in their shoes while you are gathering the skills needed to get there.

Remember you can’t begin the journey until you know who you want to be. So, the first step is to determine what do you want to be, what do you want from life, how do you want to be remember. Once you find it, now walk the talk.

Perspective means you need to change your mental impression of yourself, you’re not trying to be a successful business person, you already are – that’s how you must see yourself. Once you do that your attitude will change, now some people say but you’re lying to yourself, I say no you’re just telling the truth in advance.

I have found in life that what you spend your time on, is what you become. What do you want to become? What do you care about? Are you spending your time on it? Making yourself better? Is what you spend your time on getting you closer to your goal. Stop take a look at what your wearing, look at who you hang out with, look at how you spend your free time – Ask yourself is this a true reflection of who you want to be.

I don’t care who you are, where you’re from, or your financial situation, you can CHANGE who you are by changing what you do and how you view yourself. It starts with you, if you don’t see yourself as a success you won’t be, if you see yourself and act like a success and have a success attitude and you will get there!

You see if your viewing yourself as something in the future you always have something within you to get past the setbacks. You must be chasing something to be able to move forward through life’s setbacks and tragedies. It’s an Attitude that is our internal view of how we see our role in society. If that attitude is positive we usually have more positive outcomes.
Most people get stuck on the reason they can’t instead of the joy of a we can attitude. Listen if you don’t know how to start then begin where you want to end.

It’s simple you can’t get what you want until you know what you want! Life is so very simple-all we have to do is imagen what we want for our lives and move forward towards it. You must have that burning desire to achieve your want in order to move forward when life throws you the curve ball!

Don’t get stuck on why I can’t-always move forward and find the why. It’s not: I’ll believe it when I see it – Its I’ll see it because I Believe it!

Mental Toughness: Perception – Who we see ourselves as – Video #6

Mental Toughness: Perception – Who we see ourselves as – Video #6

In this video, we are going to discuss the 2nd P of the 5-P’s to success. You need to understand the 5- P’s to success which are basically the path to developing mental toughness to succeed.
The 5-P’s are:
1. Passion-your ultimate goal
2. Perception: Who we think we are
3. Perspective: Who we really want to be
4. Progressing: A Moving Forward mindset
5. Perseverance- Don’t quit – Never give-up

The 2nd P is Perception: Who we see ourselves as: Perception is our internal view of ourselves, our emotional judgement of our self-worth. It’s our mental impression of ourselves. How do we view things happening to us; has all been determined by how others have judge us in the past or how we have evaluated ourselves compared to others? It’s all about self-image the things or thoughts that have been instilled into your mental impressions of yourself. What have we developed over the years into, our self-image is something that has been learned over the years of others telling us how they view us.

Your beliefs are what leads to what you do. You’re the results of your beliefs. So how do you view yourself and how do you react to certain negative situations, most of us relate back to our perception of ourselves to develop our own beliefs. Ask yourself this how can two people be involved in the same situation, but have entirely two different views about what happen. Its goes back to self-image how to you view things.

You will perform at the very level you see yourself. So then to develop the mental toughness to MOVE FORWARD under pressure we must then change the way we view pressure and how we react to pressure by changing how we view ourselves.

See many people in this world were told they were bad at something so they have implanted in their minds that they are, without ever trying to get better or learn something new. Their emotional baggage shuts down. Let’s say in 3rd grade you took a math test and performed badly at it. You immediately begin to judge yourselves compared to how others performed, if they did great then you must not be good at math. What you never took into account was maybe they have already learned the process from someone else. So how could you be the same as them if they had prior training and you didn’t. But you see we plant this in our thoughts and now when math comes up we immediately think: oh boy I’m no good at math, the problem is we never try to get better or learn it, we just shut down because of a thought or a negative situation that happen in the past. To change your mental baggage, you must change how you view things If you say you can’t-then you can’t. You might want to change the statement to I can’t YET!!! Then go out there and try to learn the math, even if you fail you will be farther ahead than not trying based on some assumption. None us are born walking, but we all learn to walk after a few bumps and bruises. The key is we learn because no one has instilled into us that we will never be able to learn to walk. You see everyone knows you can learn to walk even after failing for months to learn. The difference is we have accepted that we are no good at math because we tried and failed and then others enforced the fact that we are not good at math because of how we compared to others.

It all comes down to how we perceive things, you must change the negative thoughts or baggage in your mind to overcome them. Start today write down everything you think you can’t do and then then think about how your mind send signals to you so you think you can’t. Now every time your mind says you can’t; change the thought with a positive though like I can’t YET, but I will learn. You will be surprised at how you look at things in the future. You need to have a growth mindset about everything, meaning you can do anything if you go to work on it and learn everything you can about it. Change the perception and change your world! Remember Positive in equals positive out! Your now on your way to becoming who you want to be!

No one starts out to be an expert at something, we all learn and fail until we are an expert at it. Start where you are today and change something you think your bad at, by just reading and learning everything you can about the subject, you will be amazed within just a few months you can consider yourself an expect because you know more about the subject than half the people out there. The difference is you need to let your mind and thoughts act like an expert. Remember you will perform at the very level you see yourself!

Video #5 – Mental Toughness: Develop your Passion

Video #5 – Mental Toughness: Develop your Passion

In our last video, we discussed the eight skills needed to develop mental toughness. We define mental toughness as the ability to move forward under pressure. The 8 skills I believe you need to have are:
1. Passion
2. Goals
3. Positive Attitude
4. Welcome Change
5. Move Forward
6. Get to work
7. Finish
8. Proper Nutrition & Exercise.

In this video, we are going to discuss the first of the 5-P’s to success. You need to understand the 5- P’s to success which are basically the path to developing mental toughness.
The 5-P’s are:
1. Passion-your ultimate goal
2. Perception: Who we think we are
3. Perspective: Who we really want to be
4. Progressing: A Moving Forward mindset
5. Perseverance- Don’t quit – Never give-up

The first P is PASSION or our goals: remember that a dream is something we want to obtain in life, but a goal is something we plan to obtain in life, meaning we have written it down and broke it into action steps in order to achieve. A goal that is not written down is just a dream, a thought with no plan of action to complete. So, what is this thing called Passion: I say it’s that one thing in life that makes you tick, the one thing no matter what happens you always come back too. What is it that you would or are doing today for Free, because you love it so much. The answer is probably your passion in life.

Ask yourself these questions: What do I do in my free time? What do I enjoy the most out of each day? What do I look forward to each day? Inside those answers lies your passion. It’s not that easy to recognized but once you find it, make it your main goal or focus for everything you do in life. The secret to success is being able to have a passion that you can see no matter what is happening in your life. We all suffer setbacks and tragedy that derail us, but if you have that main passion, desire, and have written it down and made it a goal, you can get yourself back on track. You have to focus on that thorough those bad moment in life. Success is pretty simple, it takes the Mental Toughness to Move Forward under Pressure, never lose sight of your passion or end game as I call it.

Once you determine your passion, you must then write it down, break it into action steps or tasks that need to be done to complete it. Each and every day you should be working on one of those steps towards your passion. I can’t tell you how long it will take to find your passion and to obtain it, but I can tell you if you continue to Move Forward towards it each and every day no matter what happens you will arrive. The greatest thing about arriving is you find out that the arrival is just the beginning. I think it was Zig Ziglar who said: Go as far as you can see and when you get there you will be able to see farther. Life is journey if you are chasing your passion: otherwise it’s just a dead-end job!

Video #4 – How to Develop your Mental Toughness

Video #4 – How to Develop your Mental Toughness

Good Morning, Hi I’m Jim Pusateri – Coach P and your listening to the Good Morning Minute with Coach P. By now I hope you have listened to my other three videos which talk about my mental toughness or life story. When most people hear the phrase mental toughness they think it has something to do with physical strength, I’m here to tell you that you need some of that physical strength to remain mentally tough, but ultimately mental toughness is not about physical strength, it’s about mind strength, yes, your mindset that is what makes you mentally tough.

Mental toughness as I define it is the ability to Move forward under pressure. So, Mental Toughness is not something you are born with, it’s something you learn and it’s all about controlling your thoughts and how you mind reacts to setbacks, tragedies, events when you are under pressure.

I’m convinced that you need to develop certain mental toughness skills to be able to move forward under pressure. The 8 skills I believe you need to have are:
1. Passion
2. Goals
3. Positive Attitude
4. Welcome Change
5. Move Forward
6. Get to work
7. Finish
8. Proper Nutrition & Exercise.
All of those eight skills have nothing to do with talent you are born with, they all are controlled by YOU!

As we continue on with this video series on developing mental toughness I’m going to hit on the 5 P’s to Success, Yes Coach P is going to explain to you the 5- P’s to success which are the path to developing mental toughness.
1. Passion-your ultimate goal
2. Perception: Who we think we are
3. Perspective: Who we really want to be
4. Progressing: A Moving Forward mindset
5. Perseverance- Don’t quit – Never give-up

Our video we release next Tuesday will cover the 1st P on the path to mental toughness: PASSION!
Your Mental Toughness Story is being written each and every day of your life, hopefully you have determined your passion and spend your time thinking and planning on obtaining it.
It’s a funny think when you have a passion (end game as I call it) you move in that direction no matter the odds. My life story should tell you that. I have continued on that journey through some of the toughest setbacks in life. But kept moving forward heck I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree when I was 56 years old, my Master’s degree when I was 58 years old and my teaching certification when I was 60 years old.
I’m currently in the process of looking for my next opportunity. I have to laugh as I go on interviews many look at me and say man he’s 60 years old what’s he doing here looks like he will be retiring in a few years. They are so wrong about me and have made the wrong assumption, you see whoever decides to hire me next is getting the best of me a person with so much experience, education and knowledge and the passion to move forward. What they don’t understand is I’m just entering the next step in my journey Teaching and coaching young adults how to become champions in life! That’s exactly what I will be doing for the next 20 years.

A Lifetime of Perseverance – “NEVER GIVE UP”

A Lifetime of Perseverance – “NEVER GIVE UP”
My personal Mental Toughness Story: A Lifetime filled with Failure and success

What is Mental Toughness? I define it as the ability to MOVE FORWARD under pressure.
After a lifetime filled with failure and success what I have found is the only way to reach your dreams (goals) to keep moving forward. Never let the setbacks define you and hold you back. Have an end game and never lose sight of it. No matter what happens in your life “Never Give Up” success is just on the other side of your last setback.
I tell my mental toughness personal story not to impress, but to show you that tragedy, setbacks, failures are all part of the process. Learn from them, make yourself stronger and MOVE FORWARD! You must have a burning passion (end game) firmly planted in your mind if you want to have the mental toughness to keep going.
SETBACKS:
Age 27- Father dies from Brian Cancer
Age 28: Younger brother commits suicide
Age 29: Lose my job, financial broke, decide to start own business
Age 34: Teammate on football team dies on practice field
Age 36: Brother-in-law commits suicide, Sons Godmother, wife’s best friend passes away
Age 43: Business fails, lose almost everything, start 2nd business
Age 47: 3rd son dies from heart failure
Age 49: Youngest son begins to have seizers (Epilepsy)
Age 51: 2nd business fails lose everything, decide to go into teaching
Age 59: lose teaching certification state requires me to return to college and take 2 more classes.
I’m sure you would agree that most people sometime along the way would of gave up thinking they were cursed and couldn’t succeed. So, what made me keep going, how was I able to fail, suffer tragedy and setback after setback and still move forward to my end game? I had a passion within me and even though I was knocked down and halted several times I just kept moving in a forward direction towards what I needed to do to reach my end game. You see I dint have a dream I had a Goal (end game) I wrote it down, broke it into action steps and no matter what was happening in my life I focus on those action steps and kept chipping away at them until I reach the End!

What is Mental Toughness? I define it as the ability to MOVE FORWARD under pressure.

How do we develop the skills for becoming mentally tough? I have found you must develop these eight skills to be able to obtain the mental toughness to overcome life’s struggles.

8 Steps to Mental Toughness Training:
1. Determine your passion, your end game, what is it you want to do with your life?

2. Write down your goals with action steps that will lead you to your end game.

3. Keep a Positive Attitude: Positive in – Positive Out! Stay away from negative people, and negative situations. Walk away – Focus on the End Game!

4. Welcome and except CHANGE: Don’t be afraid of change, use it as the fuel to overcome obstacles on your way to your end game.

5. MOVE FORWARD – Don’t be afraid to fail, failure is a learning opportunity!

6. Get TO WORK – Don’t wait until everything is perfect to start, start now and make corrections along the way. ITS NOT HOW YOU START BUT HOW YOU FINISH!

7. FINISH! – Don’t Quit, Never Give Up, keep your eyes focused on the End Game. Don’t pull-up short of the finish line. Complete every little action step along the way!

8. Exercise & Nutrition: You must establish an exercise routine to maintain the positive attitude you will need to succeed. Eat a Nutritional diet or use Nutritional supplements to maintain your weight along with the energy required to develop Mental Toughness.
